But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. John 14:26

For as long as man has been storytelling, make-a-wish stories have been favorites.

If you were granted one wish, what would it be?

One night, a young king named Solomon faced this very question in an encounter with God. According to the Bible book of 2 Chronicles, God appeared to Solomon, saying, “What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!” (2 Chronicles 1:7) One wish—would it be for wealth beyond measure? Peace, happiness, or unrivaled popularity? Solomon even could have asked for the power to conquer all his enemies! But Solomon makes his choice, saying, “Give me the wisdom and knowledge to lead [the people] properly, for who could possibly govern this great people of yours?” (2 Chronicles 1:10) Solomon knew the task before him was huge and the people were loved by God, so he asked for God’s wisdom and help to lead.

Today, the incredible wisdom that God gave Solomon is available to you. The Bible tells us, “If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you” (James 1:5). And Jesus Himself promises us that God our Father has sent to us a Helper, saying “the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you” (John 14:26)

You, too, are facing great responsibilities and ever-changing challenges. You may need wisdom for your studies or for navigating a relationship. Maybe you’re raising children or want to do well in your job or business. Too often, we tend to rely on our own thoughts and opinions without even stopping to consider that we need wisdom to live with excellence! God sees your needs and is waiting for you, like Solomon, to simply ask for the wisdom you need.
