If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved…For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Romans 19:9,13 ESV

Sometimes we need remember the simplicity of God’s invitation for relationship with us.

Harold Sala is known for putting things clearly and simply. When he explains the gospel, he gives what he calls the ABCs of the Good News.

A stands for Acknowledge. When we come to God we must acknowledge that He is God and we are not. We need to understand our need for a Savior. All have sinned, God says in the Bible book of Romans: “The wages of sin (the penalty of sin) is death” (Romans 3:23). But the Bible also explains, “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ” (2 Corinthians 5:21, NLT).

While many think of sin as an assortment of overt acts, it’s the attitude of rebellion against God that puts distance between ourselves and Him. God loves us so much that He doesn’t want us to ever be separated from Him.

B is for Believe. The second step is to simply ask for His forgiveness and believe that God will forgive you and receive you as His son or daughter. “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved,” scripture tells us (Acts 16:31).

C is for Confession. Finally, you need to confess your surrender to Jesus as your Lord and Savior. This means that you don’t keep your decision a secret. “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved…for ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved,'” Romans explains (Romans 10:9,13 ESV).

If you’ve made the decision to follow Jesus, tell someone today. Because the Good News of the Gospel is for all!
